Not Going to Arizona Anytime Soon…
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010If I wanted the possibility of authorities asking for my citizenship papers, I would have hopped to my Time Machine and visited Nazi Germany.
So the Republicans didn’t want “Obama Socialism.” They wanted Fascism instead? What? Do you want fries with that irony?

iPhone Rants…
Friday, April 23rd, 2010So, apparently some hax0r was able to port Android to the original iPhone. OK…what is the point of doing this exercise? I’m not discounting his effort…I’m sure it took a lot of software hacking skills to do it…but why do it? I mean, really? Besides being able to gloat about it on YouTube?
You can put the engine of a Pinto in a BMW M5 Body but it doesn’t mean you should.

I don’t know if that engineer who lost the iPhone got fired yet. If I were Steve Jobs, I would fire the nanosecond I found out this irresponsible engineer lost the iPhone. People would kill (me included) to have his job, and taking it for granted like that is just unacceptable. I don’t care if he accidentally lost it. I really don’t.

Gizmodo.com sure is milking that exclusive expose on the next iPhone. IMO, what they did was pretty damn stupid. I would have just concealed that secret and use that leverage to be able to get an exclusive interview with Steve Jobs on iPhone launch or something. I mean, the editors are bunch of amateurs. I honestly think Gawker lost a huge chunk of credibility on this.

Obama and Taxes
Saturday, April 10th, 2010It’s tax season once more and you can read articles, blogs, tweets, etc. of people getting hell bent because under Obama’s tax program, individuals earning more than $200K and couples earning more than $250K don’t get tax relief.
If you are one of these people, let’s put things into perspective: if you are earning *that* much per year, chances are, you’re doing fine. Don’t be selfish; you can afford it without selling your Mercedes or cutting down on your daily Starbucks Macchiato. If you think you still need that tax cut, you need to re-evaluate your finances and spending habits.
That’s the price of living in the free world, my friends. It’s not socialism…just common sense. In order for our government to provide for its people, it needs to collect taxes…and those who earn more should pay more taxes. It is just wrong to think that you earning $200K a year deserve the same tax incentives as the person earning minimum wage.

Random Rants
Friday, April 9th, 2010I took delivery of a brand new Herman Miller Caper XR. So, what do I think of it so far? Well, one thing’s certain: it forces me sit properly; no slouching or it hurts my back because unlike the seat which is made of mesh material, the back is hard plastic that contours to the sitter’s back. It will take a bit of getting used to.

New Facebook virus…YAY! This, my dear 3 readers, is one of the many reasons why I’m NEVER going to have a Facebook account. EVER.

My new iPad is still awesome. iPhone OS 4 out this summer! It’s a bit a of letdown not to support multitasking in 3G…the rest of the new features are good enough to want a new iPhone…(yeah, right)

Still struggling with Hackint0sh, Bluetooth, and the new Magic Mouse. The Targus BT + MM wakes from forced sleep but NOT from idle sleep. In fact, sometimes you lose BT unless you remove then reattach the dongle; sometimes the machine won’t wake up at all, forcing you to reboot. ANNOYING…but not enough to give up Magic Mouse where I got accustomed to already. I’ve been following this thread and one poster (deviantosx) suggests to DISABLE wake from Bluetooth and just wake up by pressing the Power button if you’re using the Bluetooth keyboard…or if you’re still using a USB keyboard, you can still wake up by pressing a key. Kind of half-baked for now…but at least Bluetooth doesn’t die…yet.

It’s Not 2005 Anymore…
Thursday, October 8th, 2009Bluetooth headsets are no longer cool.
Especially when you start yapping to answer a call as if you’rw talking to one of your several personalities. It makes you look like a douche.
The only place a bluetooth headseat should be used is when driving a car.

Hi, Nikon! Capture NX 2 is Probably Crap
Saturday, September 19th, 2009I’m not really satisfied with the way third-party RAW converters handle NEF files. Yes, I could easily just spend more time to make the output better…but like I always say…life is too short for that. So I broke down and bought Capture NX 2 Upgrade even though I loathe the Capture NX workflow…or lack of.
Right now, I’m just installing the thing on my Snow Leopard. Upon double-clicking on the installer, OS X prompted me to install Rosetta Stone…
…OMGWTFBBQ!
Nikon, your installer is still written for PowerPC? Is it that difficult to re-compile that thing in Universal Binary?
I have the feeling this is just part one of the endless list of crap that I will have to go through with this software.
All in the name of better NEF conversion.
Update 1: OK, here we go. Apparently, Version 2.2.2 does NOT work with Snow Leopard. Worse, there is no ETA from Nikon and/or Nik Software on when it would be fixed! Whoever wrote this piece of crap at Nik Software, you better not identify yourselves in the “About Capture NX” dialog box because you will get lots of hate mail…maybe even death threats.
Here is my first conversion with Capture NX2. It’s almost…ALMOST…worthwhile to endure the software’s crappiness.
One advise, Nikon: just create a plugin for Aperture or Lightroom…ditch this UI.

Random Rant #1687
Wednesday, September 9th, 2009I think it’s safe for me to say that a huge part of the US population is made up of morons.
Obama has made a welcome speech for those students going back to school today. The guy basically just said “Stay in school if you want to succeed,” and these morons think that it’s some political agenda that’s un-American. One Republican Party Chairman went as far as saying Obama’s speech is trying to “indoctrinate America’s children to his socialist agenda.” Holy crap, indeed.
The world doesn’t need this narrow-mindedness. It’s one thing to disagree with somebody, but this? The moronic population of these United States has definitely set a new low here; Obama has nothing but pure intentions with his speech, encouraging kids to stay in school…and it’s mind-numbing to witness that some people view it as a socialist agenda. If you are one of these people, please die already.
On a lighter note, flickr has FINALLY released an official iPhone app. It’s about damn time.
