The Leica X1…

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

…is what Ricoh GRD III should have been. Unfortunately, Ricoh is just too stubborn and short-sighted to realize this.

I think I should really start saving up.  My next camera will be the just-announced Leica M9.  Retirement funds?  Who needs that?

Update: OMYGOODNEZ…The M9 will have a suggested list price of almost $7000!  Even if I win the lottery I still won’t be able to afford to buy one.

Random Rant #1687

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

I think it’s safe for me to say that a huge part of the US population is made up of morons.

Obama has made a welcome speech for those students going back to school today. The guy basically just said “Stay in school if you want to succeed,” and these morons think that it’s some political agenda that’s un-American. One Republican Party Chairman went as far as saying Obama’s speech is trying to “indoctrinate America’s children to his socialist agenda.” Holy crap, indeed.

The world doesn’t need this narrow-mindedness. It’s one thing to disagree with somebody, but this? The moronic population of these United States has definitely set a new low here; Obama has nothing but pure intentions with his speech, encouraging kids to stay in school…and it’s mind-numbing to witness that some people view it as a socialist agenda. If you are one of these people, please die already.

On a lighter note, flickr has FINALLY released an official iPhone app. It’s about damn time.

Goodbye, Old Friend

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Today, we traded-in our old friend of 10 years–a 1999.5 Nissan Pathfinder–for a new Subaru Tribeca.

We amassed some 168K miles on the Pathfinder, yet it never gave us headaches (no major breakdowns or repairs sans a couple of brake rotor replacements).

The Tribeca has a huge shoes to fill. However, given Subaru’s stellar reputation, we are confident that it’s not a grand task (hopefully) for the new car.

Why we didn’t get a new Pathfinder? Two things: the new Pathfinder is HUMONGOUS; my wife can barely drive the Pathfinder we had. Second, it’s a lot more expensive now (for the decent model)…I’m sure it’s worth every penny, but at around 8 grand difference, I think the Tribeca is a better choice.

First 5K

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

I just registered for my very first 5K. I’ve been running almost every day (roughly 2 miles daily) since November last year, i figured it’s time to see how I measure up with everyone else.
