iPhone OS 2.2 Battery Problems?
Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008If you’re experiencing shortened battery life since upgrading to 2.2, you’re not alone, apparently. I noticed my 3G to have the same problem and seems to get warm too quickly when I’m browsing. After reading this thread, it seems that Pocket Safari is the culprit. If you don’t want to go through that very long thread…it is advised to *quit* Safari when not in use (*hold* down the Home button) and delete/reboot/re-add any ActiveSync/MSExchange Mail accounts, and this should fix the problem…albeit maybe temporarily.
Update: Based on my own observations, I believe Mail is the culprit. It gets worse with MSExchange accounts. It happens when the Mail client loses connection to the server (usually when switching to 3G to Edge or 3G to Wi-Fi plus any other permutation). You will notice that Mail will just try to connect indefinitely…then your battery warms up. I usually get around this by switching off 3G and then on again. JailBreak apps like SBSettings really come in handy here.

New Gadget: iPhone 3G
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008After struggling for months on a piece o’ crap Motorola Q–which is paid by the company including the monthly plan–I broke down and bought an iPhone 3G yesterday. Yes, I paid for the phone out of my own pocket, and yes, I will be paying the montly $75 out of my pocket as well…but I won’t have to suffer for that crappy phone with its crappy OS.

In other news, the US is officially in recession. I mean, WTF? Was the NBER formed by the government to point out the obvious? Oh, and thanks to your stupid press release, NBER…DJI closed at minus 700 points today! Great job, you a-holes.
