Will Not Do This One Again…
A friend of mine mentioned a few weeks ago that the hard disk drive of his iBook G4 died, and that Apple Service wanted to charge a lot to replace it. I–being an arrogant bastard, of course–told him that I could replace the hard disk with both arms tied behind my back…without knowing what the task entails.
Sure enough, upon reading the intarwebs I just learned that replacing the iBook’s HDD is nowhere as trivial as installing a desktop HDD. I didn’t want to be branded a twat, so I went ahead and did it. Fortunately, I was able to bring back the pieces and install a fresh OS X without problems.
So, yeah, I’m not going to do that again.
