WANT!

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Nikon D300. 51 AF points (15 cross-type…thank you, Nikon), baby! up to ISO 3200 native (!). Hi-resolution (more than 3 times the resolution of D200’s 2.5″ LCD) 3″ LCD (!)

Nikon 14-24/2.8. FULL-FRAME. Probably costs more than a small country’s GNI (read: i cannnot afford it). Good news is that it will probably drive down the price of the 12-24/4 DX

Rob Galbraith: What?

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

I know I’m gonna get flamed for this, but I’m so damn tired of these corporate-sponsored photographer celebrities who insert bullshit in their assessment of their imaging equipment and think they can just get away with it.

Consider Rob Galbraith, whom a lot of lowly photographers like me look up to for an impartial views on photography equipment…just tried to bullshit on his latest “analysis” on the autofocus problem with the Canon ID MkIII.

I commend him for pointing out the problem and never pulled punches on the facts. No sugarcoating whatsoever. But then you read this part of the article:

—-

Q. Has your opinion about aspects of the EOS-1D Mark III other than autofocus changed since the first look article?

Not really: except for autofocus, the EOS-1D Mark III is a photographer’s dream machine.

What the hell, Rob? It’s like saying, “Oh I love the Ferrari, except that that thing goes straight when I want it to go left. It’s still a dream machine!”

Isn’t Canon’s unparalleled autofocus one of the features that make photographers dump their current brand and switch to Canon? I mean, if the autofocus does not work, how can one possibly say that this is still their dream machine? Honestly, if I was a 1DIII user, I’d be REALLY pissed.

The Worst Florian Eckhardt and Eliza Gauger Stalker

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

For somebody who’s stalking these two greatest bloggers in the history of the intarwebs, I sure am doing a really awful job.

In addition to their off-the-wall blog, Ectomplasmosis, they also started writing for that OTHER another awesome gaming blog that I rarely visit.  No, it’s not Joystiq (I said “awesome,” not “atrocious”).  I found out about this just today when they officially joined the family three weeks ago.  Like I was saying: worst stalker evar.

That’s a very welcome change, as I really don’t dig their Cthulhu obsession–try as I might.
