Uninstalling One of the Worst AntiVirus Software Ever Written
I had the unfortunate experience of trying out this crapola of a software called PC-cillin AntiVirus by Trend Micro. I noticed that after installing this antivirus, I noticed that everything–EVERYTHING–slowed down on my PC. From browsing to just opening up an explorer window. I’m telling you, this makes Norton AV a great software.
So I did what a normal computer user would do after finding out that the overrated AV is actually crap: uninstall it. But I couldn’t: it started complaining about corrupt installation files. After perusing their equally-horrifying support website, I came across this solution to disable the AV. After checking out the tool, it turns out that the same PCCTool.exe that’s in its Program Files folder can be used to uninstall itself! The fifth tab (”Uninstall”, duh) opens up this option…and Voila! The software is finally uninstalled.
Moral Lesson: Stick with Freeware AV programs.
