Monday, December 18th, 2006There Goes My Plan On Buying a PS3…
Monday, December 18th, 2006Given the coma-inducing price of the PlayStation 3, I hypnotized myself that I don’t need it…yet. I will only own one–cost notwithstanding–only when the PS3-exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 hits next year.
Or so I thought.
Rumors abound that Metal Gear Solid 4 is no longer a PS3 exclusive. On one hand, there’s an argument that Kojima thinks that the the installed userbase of PS3 isn’t that huge by the time the game is released, therefore hurting the profit potential; on the other hand, there’s no way Kojima’s “pissing on the well he drinks his water from.”

It’s “Than”, Not “Then”, You Twat.
Friday, December 15th, 2006So many times I’ve come across sentences written like this:
blah is bigger then bleh
blah is longer then bleh
blah is fewer then bleh
The word is “than”, not “then.” Annoying.
Here’s a rule of thumb: if you’re doing comparisons, use “than”; if describing a sequence of events or enumeration, use “then”–as in:
If you still use “than” inappropriately, only then will I kick your ass.

Look Before You Leap: Know Your Car Dealer
Friday, December 15th, 2006Early this year, I bitched about Open Road BMW for screwing me over…twice. Today, I have came across a website that rates auto dealers and the reviews are pretty much unanimous: Open Road dealerships must be burned down.

Super-Hiro
Thursday, December 14th, 2006You know that guy from that little-known TV series “Heroes” who plays the Japanese geek who can time-travel?
Yeah. Him.
Did you know that he’s a programmer by day? No, not some bozo who “designs software” and passes himself as a programmer even though he couldn’t write an app that prints “Hello, World” to save his own skin; I mean, he’s a hard-core programmer dude. He has written multiple applications and plug-ins for special effects software at ILM (the special effects studio founded by some guy named George Lucas…’doesn’t ring a bell to me…). Those liquid metal effects for T2? He did that. Same with those water effects for “The Perfect Storm” and “Pirates of the Carribean.”
And with his newfound fame, he still keeps his day job. Imagine that.
Yeah, I know. What a prick. I hate him, too.

I Quit!
Thursday, December 14th, 2006Not too long ago, I bragged about being a published columnist. Just about two weeks ago, I quit writing for the column. I learned that meeting a weekly deadline for a column is stupid hard. If you must know what the column is, it’s called “Raging Bubuli” (translation: “Raging Lizard”)–a column where I do what do best: being an all-around jerk.
I’ll probably take another shot at it…if anyone offers me the job. If I do start writing for a column again, it will probably be a monthly thing…unless I do it full time.

Glen Baxter
Wednesday, December 13th, 2006I stumbled upon this mega-awesome artist’s site through a link from “Table of Malcontents.”. It’s like “The Far Side” but I don’t really get most of the jokes until I read a Wikipedia entry of the punchline.
OK, I lied. I still don’t get the joke after reading the Wikipedia entry…it is funny though when I get it. Oh, screw you, too.

Color Me Surprised
Wednesday, December 13th, 2006I just found out TODAY that my favorite Kotaku writers Florian Eckhardt and Eliza Gauger has left to work for Wired (Florian goes by the name John Brownlee, which happens to be his real name, based on what I’ve googled). I did notice that they haven’t been posting for a while but their names were still on the credits on the sidebar…well…that is, until today.
Michael McWhertor is alright, I guess. He’ll probably work for Wired in a few months…
Update: Florian writes a blog entitled “Tabled of Malcontents“…I’m not sure what’s it about (yet)…but a quick scan on the postings titles tells me they’re not about gaming at all…Eliza writes for “Game|Life.” Time to update those Bloglines subscriptions…
