New Gadget: Photoflex First Studio LiteIgloo

planarI just got a new gadget for product studio lighting: The Photoflex LiteIgloo

I was looking for an el-cheapo way to do professional-looking lighting for product shooting.  Most table-top lightin kits are uber-expensive–costing in the neighborhood $450 dollars.  After googling towards the end of the internet, I came across this product from Photoflex.  I have a Photoflex Softbox and a set of reflectors, and I thought this product should be decent at worst.

It came in three sizes: The large LiteIgloo was around $100, medium at $80 and small at $50.  I ordered the largest and the smallest ones from Adorama last Friday, and it came this afternoon and did the test shots.  With the AlienBees studio lighting and the Photoflex softbox I own, I thought I just found gold!  Not a bad product at all.  The only nit I could say was the smallest was a tad too small…and the setup doesn’t really form a perfect cube…but considering it folds to a small package and at a relatively cheap price, I shouldn’t really be complaining too much.

    Hi Daniel

I believe the Medium-sized igloo will be the most versatile. I bought the smallest and the largest, and half the time, I found the small one too small, and the big one too big. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably just bought the medium one and saved a little bit more.

If portability and price is of utmost priority, the LiteIgloo can’t be beat. If you want some more photos, click on the image above to bring you to my Flickr set.

    Hope this helps.
