…And Who Is The Mystery Car Dealer?

The bastard who treated me like turd when I was shopping for a car is (drumroll please) Open Road BMW in Edison, NJ.  If you want to be treated the same, just go to any Open Road car dealership for that matter.  I have a friend who is just in the process of going through the same shit as I am writing this; this time it’s in Open Road Honda (also in Edison, NJ).  The difference is, he bought from them anyway; I didn’t.

I warned him repeatedly about my experience, but he insisted on buying from them because they are the only one who has the color he wanted.  I personally would have preferred to be gang-raped in prison.

In a related note, I also mentioned sometime ago that I sent a letter of complaint to BMW of North America.  I wasn’t satisfied with their response (which basically said that they apologize and forwarded the complaint to Open Road management…really, WTF was that?), so I sent them a follow-up letter in a much nastier tone.  Tonight, I received a response; I gotta hand it to the Customer Relations representative for being patient, but her response is still shitty, nonetheless.  To quote:

“Our authorized BMW centers are independently-owned and operated and solely responsible for their representations, sales, and service policies and procedures.  BMW strives to respond to customers as positively as possible.  Unfortunately, I will not be able to comment further on this issue. Disciplinary action against our dealer network is at the discretion of BMW of North America, LLC and is a confidential matter.

I highlighted the last sentence which, to me, basically means “We’re sorry but BMW isn’t going to do jack shit about your situation.  We can’t afford to allocate resources to satisfy just ONE complaining customer.  We have enclosed a picture of the CEO’s middle finger to constantly remind you of our arrogance; we suggest to place this picture in your wallet.”

I am so tempted to respond and show them the link to this blog…and CC BMW Germany office.  Maybe that will make some real noise.  But, man, I’m so damn tired.  It isn’t seem worth the effort anymore.

Just dropping by (from erniea’s blog).

I had a minor issue with my local BMW dealer a few months back. I ordered an iPod kit thingie from them and for them to install, they called saying that the thing arrived and I made an appointment to bring my car in. I showed up and the kit was gone and they couldn’t tell me what happened. My guess is that they were trying to please another customer and never mind that I’m being screwedin the process. Anyway, I put up such a stink that they had to give me the ipod kit for free (and a stupid keychain).

I think the key is to make a big enough scene in the middle of the showroom for every potential buyers to take notice a I have no shame, obviously.

    Good luck.

if you back-tracked to the entries describing actual events (if you did, give yourself a pat on the back for surviving that…otherwise, i won’t recommend it as sheer boredom might kill you in the process), I actually made a scene on my first “walk out.” I guess it wasn’t big enough. :-)

I’ll keep that in mind, though. I’m going to get that new iPod interface coming out next month…and if the stars are lined up right, i may also have that thing for free. ;-)

[…] Early this year, I bitched about Open Road BMW for screwing me over…twice.   Today, I have came across a website that rates auto dealers and the reviews are pretty much unanimous: Open Road dealerships must be burned down. […]
