…And The Saga Continues…

“Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, I just hope you fucking die.”
-bubuli

And so I thought the adventure with Dealer X ended there.

The following Monday after what happened last Saturday, my original salesman left two messages apologizing for the whole thing–AFTER I sent a nasty e-mail that I won’t be buying from them. When I finally spoke with him, he could not apologize enough and told me, as a sign of good faith, he would give me an even better price.

He did. It was $850 below the original quote that he gave me. Take note, I didn’t say, “I don’t think I’d be going with you unless you gave me this X price.” I just said, “The only reason I’d go with you is if you give me the absolute lowest price possible.” And then he gave me the price.

He offered that we can finalize the transaction over the phone, but I declined and told him that I was going there this Thursday (today), and that I’d call if anything changes.

Thursday came and went there AN HOUR before the appointed time. My original salesman again wasn’t there. There was the other salesman that I just exchanged email with in the beginning of the inquiry about the car.

So I told him that my original salesman agreed on this price, and would like to finalize the paperwork.

When he said “I just need to run this by my boss,” and was gone for a good 10 minutes. I knew something was wrong.

And I was right: the sales manager came out. To make the long story short, he can’t honor the price, and “could not believe my original salesman gave me this quote without checking with him first.”

I told him, “how the hell should I know? I don’t know how you operate. Bottom line, he gave me this price, and you’re saying you won’t honor it.”

He said “I would give you the price, but I can’t custom order it. It has to come from our lot, minus Option F. Or we can custom order it with the original quote.”

I was surprised at myself for the way I handled it: I did not lose my temper at all. But it wasn’t a pretty picture, nonetheless. The manager had the audacity to tell me that he was “inconvenienced for even arguing about the price.”

The salesman? Didn’t say a gaddam word. His eyes were fixed on the floor.

At that point I just had to say: “I guess I am leaving…AGAIN.” I felt like a tool for even going back there in the first place.

People have been asking: What is the car? And who is the dealer? It will all be revealed in good time.

[...] I got a response from the car manufacturer’s office.  Basically, they just acknowledged that what happened to me was wrong, and they were sorry about it, and the matter was forwarded to the dealer’s management office to be dealt with accordingly. [...]
