I Just Realized Something…

Monday, February 6th, 2006

I use Alien Bees strobes for all my studio lighting needs.  As I was going through the proofs of yesterday’s session, I noticed that the white balance is consistent across all the images.  The only different thing I did yesterday as far as lighting goes was to increase the output power of the key light (AB 800).  Then it just hit me: is using the Alien Bees strobes at low power setting cause inconsistent white balance?  After a quick search, I came across this thread at FredMiranda.com.  EUREKA!  I just sent an email to AlienBees support inquiring about this “shortcoming.”  I will post their response as soon as I get it.

Flickr Pro?

Saturday, February 4th, 2006

I’ve been playing around with Flickr for a couple of days now and I’ve been impressed with the ease of organizing digital images through them.  So impressed that I am thinking of upgrading my account to Flickr Pro.  But being the cheap bastard that I am, I’m not so sure that $25 is worth all this.  Is it?  I am hoping that my three readers would chime their thoughts about this…

Google RSS Reader

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

It’s still in beta…it looks OK, for now.  I guess something like this makes sense when using a public computer; I personally don’t see myself using any web-based RSS reader as my default reader.

PostcardViewer

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

I’ve been using Airtight Interactive’s *free* flash-based gallery for a while now for my galleries and I just found out a few days ago that they’ve come up with the variation of the SimpleViewer, dubbed PostcardViewer (wow, real creative, yeah? ;-) ).  I’ve started playing a bit with it, and suffice to say, I think it’s cool.

I’ve successfully migrated the blog from Blogger to WordPress. Right now, I’m using the default template (obviously) and just added AdSense to the SideBar.
